AI vs. Cancer & Incurable Disease: What Google, Anthropic, OpenAI, Microsoft & Isomorphic Have Actually Proven (Oct 13, 2026)

Every major AI lab now says it's fighting disease. We checked the claims against the original research. The AI-discovered drug furthest along in human trials comes from none of them, and the top cancer-AI company hasn't dosed a patient yet. In this episode: - Google: DeepSomatic found 10 new mutations in childhood leukemia samples; an NHS mammography AI caught 25% of missed interval cancers across 125,000 women. - Microsoft: GigaTIME turns a $5 pathology slide into a tumour immune map across 24 cancer types. - Anthropic: Claude designed working protein binders for 14 of 15 targets, including cancer targets. Lab tests only; Claude Science launched in June. - Isomorphic Labs: cancer-first pipeline, no human trial yet, valuation talks at $40-50B. - Insilico: AI-discovered rentosertib for incurable lung fibrosis is in a 320-patient Phase III. - OpenAI & Biohub: GPT-Rosalind for drug discovery; a $1.8B virtual-cell effort with DeepMind and Meta. - The translation ladder: none of the AI-discovered treatments covered is approved yet.
